WATER WISE CAMPAIGN
Water is not free we pay for every litre just like you do at home. We need your help!!!
TARGET: To reduce our water consumption by 20%
REASON: To prevent further plot fee increases by ever increasing water bills
WHAT CAN WE DO TO SAVE WATER:
- Major plumbing leaks report immediately to John Hassell on 0414701747. If you know how to turn the water system off do it. Put a note on the whiteboard, near water tanks, to
advise other gardeners
- Minor tap leaks put bucket under tap (to reuse water) and email or text John Hassell, for repairs at the next working bee
- If you wash your produce capture the water in a bucket and reuse on your garden
- Use mulch and shade cloth in the summer to reduce evaporation.
- Always check your soil before watering. While the surface will appear dry, if you scratch below and its moist DON'T water
- Use hand held hoses only. No sprinklers allowed
- Personnel water tanks cannot be filled from mains only from our tanks or your home
DON'T water:
-
If rain is forecast, during the heat of the day or when it's windy
- Bare soil or the foliage of your plants. Target the root zone of plants only
DO water:
-
In the morning or evening.
Remember mains water is drinking water and is precious and expensive. For small amounts consider using a watering can straight from our tanks and it's free.
Please consider all the points above before opening a tap and help us reduce water consumption by 20%.
Thank you,
The Committee
